Sheriff’s Office issues murder warrant for Jerry Wayne Martin, a.k.a. “Doodle,” in the death of Terry Wayne Brown
On August 12, 63-year-old Terry Wayne Brown was reported missing from the Union Mills area of Rutherford County, North Carolina. What began as a missing person investigation has now turned into a murder investigation, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said today.
Investigators from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office uncovered Brown’s remains buried on the property of a home in Union Mills, leading authorities to classify the case as a homicide. Limited information is currently available as the investigation is ongoing.
A first-degree murder warrant has been issued for Jerry Wayne Martin, also known by his nickname “Doodle,” who is suspected of killing Brown. Martin is not yet in custody, and authorities warn that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
The Sheriff’s Office urges anyone knowing of Martin’s whereabouts to contact the Rutherford County Communications Center immediately. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the Rutherford County Crime Stoppers hotline at 828-286-TIPS (8477) or via the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office app.
Brown’s daughter, Terrie Hargett, said on social media that her father had been living with a girlfriend who didn’t want her in his life and may have been traveling on foot while limping.
