Exclusive video: Lake Lure town council meeting at Rumbling Bald
The town did not record the "round table" meeting on Tuesday. Watch it on my YouTube page.
Lake Lure Mayor Carol Pritchett led a special session of the town council's “Round Table” on Sept. 19 at the Legends Terrace at Rumbling Bald. “The purpose of the meeting is to give community members opportunities to ask questions, share ideas, and get information about the Town of Lake Lure and upcoming projects,” the town’s website said. A second meeting is scheduled to be held today at the Lake Lure Municipal Hall at 6:00 p.m.
While the special session round table meetings are open to the public, they are not recorded by the town. “Live streaming is not planned for this forum. We hope this will be a very interactive meeting and it is not ideal for streaming,” town staff told me in a Facebook message prior to the meeting. More details may be found on the town’s website.
The town records the regular town council meetings and occasionally other meetings, although audio quality is often spotty due to using their security system cameras for streaming. For example, if someone attending in person speaks in the audience or does not speak directly into the microphone, the virtual audience can not hear what is being discussed. While Mayor Pritchett described it as a special session of the town council on Tuesday, no meeting documents are on the town’s meetings page from Tuesday’s event or today’s event. A list of upcoming and past meetings may be viewed here.
It was a robust discussion on Tuesday, with important updates ranging from infrastructure to lake use regulations. Click above or here to listen to the conversation on YouTube. It is unclear why YouTube's automatic closed captions are currently not working. An unedited transcript is available on Cops & Congress by Annie Dance’s DocumentCloud.org account (it’s free).
