Residents discuss housing, zoning history, and long-term priorities for the town’s future during a virtual comprehensive plan session with the Foothills Regional Commission.

LAKE LURE, N.C. — The Town of Lake Lure held its first-ever virtual public input session on Oct. 28 as part of the development of a new Comprehensive Plan. This long-range guide will shape town decisions on zoning, infrastructure, recreation, and development for the next decade.

The online meeting on Microsoft Teams was led by Foothills Regional Commission senior planner Preston Janko, program manager Benjamin Bordeaux, and regional fellow Sophie Schaefer. Janko explained that the plan is required by state law for any town enforcing zoning ordinances and will include recommendations on topics such as land use, economic development, tourism, and disaster mitigation.
